About nullrights

nullrights is a small catalog of 8,526 audio recordings that are dedicated to the public domain. Nobody needs permission to use them.

What CC0 means

CC0 1.0 Universal lets a creator waive all copyright and related rights in a work, to the fullest extent allowed by law, worldwide and permanently. A CC0 track isn't "free if you credit the artist"; it is simply released. Use it in a game, a podcast, a film, a product, a commercial project, anything, with no attribution, no licence fee and no copyright strings attached.

Where the music comes from

Every track here was released as CC0 by its creator on an established open archive, such as the Free Music Archive, Wikimedia Commons, OpenGameArt, ccMixter and the Internet Archive. We bring those recordings together in one place, keep a copy so downloads stay fast and reliable, and link every track back to its artist and original source.

Why

Public-domain music is scattered across many sites, each with its own search and its own idea of what "free" means. nullrights collects only recordings whose rights have genuinely been waived, so you can search, listen and download without reading licence fine print for every file.

Future licences

The catalog is built to grow beyond CC0 into other "free to use and redistribute" licences, such as the Public Domain Mark and CC BY, each clearly labelled with what it does and doesn't require. Today, everything here is CC0.

Takedowns & corrections

We only list tracks that a source already publishes as CC0, but mistakes happen: a mislabelled upload, a licence that changed later, or an artist who wants a track removed. If that's you, the fastest fix is usually to correct or remove it at the original source, linked from every track page. You're also welcome to open an issue on the project's repository describing the track and the problem.
